- mainly flat, but at the tip of lake twice from 100 m to 250 m
- There is a bicycle route in Omihachiman (or here an easier map) and an other one from the Rainbow bridge to Kitakomatsu (or here a better readable map) on the West side of the lake
- Suggested to ride from Sakamoto along the tram line to Otsu
