I’m yet again in Urabandai, and yet again, it is wet and cold. Last time I was here on a long weekend, in mid October, when most people were probably expecting the autumn leaves to be at their best, This time I’m a little bit later and on a normal weekday and there are only very few other visitors around the lakes. My hotel is right at the entrance to the walk path. The weather forecast for today was rain, and effectively at it rain in the morning, however, around 10:30. It had stopped. I wasn’t fully confident that it would not restart raining, so instead of cycling, I took one of the free umbrellas from the hotel and started walking around those lakes.
These lakes are called Goshikinuma, which literally means five-colored ponds. I am not sure if I did see five colors but I did definitely see three.
Plus the autumn colors.
As I had more for breakfast, then I usually have I wasn’t hungry around 12:30 when I em on the other end of the walk. So I walked back on the street bought some small snack on the way and decided to have early dinner at my hotel instead. Tomorrow will be a longer ride to Nasu and potentially in the rain. I’m not yet fully decided if I will actually ride or maybe take the train. I guess I’ll see tomorrow how wet and cold the rain actually is. No off to some warm water in the rotenburo of my hotel and some snacks in the lobby before an early dinner.
